Lock It Up: 3 Areas to Secure on Your Property
There’s no time like the present to assess the safety and security of your household. Are the structures on your property secure? Are your valuables protected? Is your personal information safe?
According to the experts at Master Lock, homeowners should, at the very least, take steps to prevent a breach in the following areas:
Shed – Whether your valuables include patio furniture, play sets or pool toys, make sure your shed or storage unit is secure with a durable padlock, preferably one with a shackle stronger than hardened steel. This type of padlock can also be used to secure fences or gates on your property.
Front Door – Did you know that about one-third of break-ins occur through the front door? To protect your home from burglary, install a door security bar that resists forced entry. To further deter intruders, consider installing lighting strategically around your property.
Office – Personal and sensitive information, such as legal documents, Social Security cards and bank account passwords, should always remain in a secure location away from prying eyes. To keep information from falling into the wrong hands, use a reliable vault or safe deposit box.
